Geometry

Course Description

In our study of Geometry the learning base for students to better understand and analyze certain aspects of their surroundings and apply mathematical concepts to “real life” situations will be enlarged.

In addition, students will apply formulas to mathematical equations to solve and analyze problems. Throughout this course, students will build on prior knowledge of Algebra 1 and other area of mathematics.

The students will explore and apply the concepts of equations and the solution methods. In addition, the students will study various geometric concepts and their application.

A brief list of Geometry topics:

  1. Points, Lines & Planes; Reasoning & Proof
  2. Perpendicular and Parallel Lines
  3. Congruent Triangles
  4. Application of Congruent Triangles
  5. Quadrilaterals
  6. Proportion & Similarity
  1. Right Triangles and Trigonometry– Pythagorean Theorem
  2. Circles
  3. Polygons and Area, Area of a Sector
  4. Surface Area & Volume
  5. Transformations

As a rule, the prerequisite for this course is Algebra 1. In most cases, the natural progression of this course is Algebra 2.
